Founder & CEO
Alisa Herr is passionate about lifting up those who use their talents as a force for good, and she established Unity Digital Agency in 2016 to connect mission-driven technologists, designers, and strategists to the organizations who need them the most. Alisa was previously the founding chief technical officer of a media nonprofit and an award-winning web developer at a design agency. She is also a mom, public speaker, open source evangelist, and judge for the SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards. Alisa lives on the Raleigh-Durham line with her sons, husband, and herd of animals.
Angela is passionate about leveraging her diverse skills, experiences, and abilities to support positive, meaningful impacts in the world. Her diverse professional background includes software implementation for business operations and processes, project management, customer relationship management, scheduling and planning, recruiting and training. She loves walks in nature, meaningful conversations and studying the value of authenticity, balance and communication in life.
Project Coordinator + Customer Advocate
April believes that at their core, all beings desire to be genuinely heard, understood and treated with consideration and respect. As someone who was so passionate about understanding people that she majored in psychology at Barnard College (Columbia University, NYC) she is delighted to use her talents for attentive listening and clear communication in her position as Unity’s Customer Advocate. Her past roles at diverse companies in the biotech, medical services, telecommunications and non-profit industries contribute to her ability to help find novel solutions to customer issues. In her free time, she applies her energy and organizational skills to helping make her neighborhood a more harmonious place to live and grow. April makes a conscious effort to move through life with tolerance, grace and compassion. She considers herself very fortunate to have found a wonderful, open-hearted partner who shares her love of technology and passion for kindness towards all living things.
Bud believes in the value of design for solving problems, even the biggest problems. He designs creative and thoughtful work for print, digital, and environmental projects and believes in a job well done, preferably with a smile. He brings experience working with small organizations communicating with their customers locally, to large enterprises with global impact. When Bud’s not home in Durham, he may be camping with his wife and kids, serving with his church, or road tripping — always capturing moments in photographs.
Andy believes a website can be beautiful and accessible. As a front-end developer, he strives to deliver both on every project he’s a part of and enjoys implementing creative solutions with usability and client goals front of mind. Prior to joining Unity, Andy built WordPress websites for a variety of clients ranging from museums and higher education to non-profits. While away from the keyboard, he enjoys making photographs, hiking, rock climbing, well-executed puns, and learning about local plants and mushrooms. Overall, he’s a “fun-guy” to have around!

Partners & Suppliers
When it comes to running our own business, Unity strives to have a minimal environmental impact and a larger positive social impact. That is why we are so selective in the businesses we choose to help us deliver the best services to our clients. We prioritize working with B Corporations, minority or women-owned businesses, environmentally-friendly businesses, and local North Carolina-based businesses.

Our web server is a powerful VPS managed by GreenGeeks.com, an EPA Green Power Partner. Their company is committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible, so they use energy-efficient hardware housed in eco-friendly data centers. But the best part is that they work with environmental foundations to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) to put back into the grid three times (3x!!!) the amount of energy they consume. GreenGeeks.com is consistently rated at the top of the charts for best web servers. And here’s why. In addition to being a “carbon-reducing” website host, their platform is also top of the line and continually improving with reliable hardware, fast load times, and enhanced security.
PS – Did you know we offer free eco-friendly hosting on our VPS to all of our retainer clients?

As much as possible, we try to go paper-free. But we’re not quite there yet with digital business cards (and honestly, experiencing a beautifully printed design can’t be beat). So we did a lot of searching to find an ethically-run printing business that is as sustainable as possible. GreenerPrinter exceeds our expectations time and again. They only print on the highest quality recycled and/or FSC-certified paper with non-toxic soy- and vegetable-based inks. And everything from their production to shipping processes is designed for the highest standards for sustainability. We use GreenerPrinter for all of our professional printing needs.
