CEO & Creative Director
Alisa is a multidisciplinarian who loves flexing her skills in strategy, data analysis, writing, empathy, design, and web development. She found her calling to lift up those who use their talents as a force for good and established Unity in 2016 to connect mission-driven technologists, designers, and strategists to the organizations who need them the most. A North Carolinian to the bone, Alisa was born and raised in the Triangle, has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Appalachian State University, a master’s degree in library and information science from UNC Chapel Hill, and ardently defends her preference for Lexington style bbq. She is a mom, wife, public speaker, open source evangelist, and serves on the community board of AIGA Raleigh as the chair of the Women Lead Initiative.
Johnny Hackett, Jr.
Johnny is an accomplished professional with a deep background in process analysis, management, audit, and project management — skills he built during his studies in acquiring his Six Sigma Black Belt certification. He is a proven specialist, with multi-million dollar project-wins and successful improvement initiatives at companies such as Xerox and IBM. Johnny resides in Raleigh, and when he isn’t solving complex business problems, he spends his time in downtown Raleigh doing community work or at home watching old movies. Johnny really loves the movie “The Five Heartbeats.”
Leigh is a driven designer and developer who has been eternally curious about how the world works. At a young age she started exploring by tinkering and taking apart toys before teaching herself to code at age ten. A creator her whole life, Leigh has an undergraduate degree in fine arts from East Carolina University, where she studied textile design, mixed media, and printmaking. As a firm believer that one should never stop learning, she chose to further her education by studying front-end engineering at The Iron Yard in Durham. Leigh currently resides in Raleigh where she enjoys cooking, reading whatever she can get her hands on, and watching professional wrestling… which she promises is cooler than it sounds.
Lexi is a developer and designer passionate about creating beautiful things for the Internet. She believes that storytelling can change the world and is on a mission to tell those stories through visual communication. While Lexi spent several years in New York as a freelance photographer, she is a Southerner at heart, growing up in Tennessee and fervently in support of the word “y’all.” She traded the Big Apple for the Bull City in 2014, receiving her master’s degree in interactive media as a Roy H. Park Fellow from the UNC School of Media and Journalism. Lexi is a runner, teacher, and pet-obsessed human who is always down to collaborate on a fun project or go play in the woods.

When it comes to running our own business, Unity strives to have a minimal environmental impact and a larger positive social impact. That is why we are so selective in the businesses we choose to help us deliver the best services to our clients. We prioritize working with B Corporations, minority or women-owned businesses, environmentally-friendly businesses, and local North Carolina-based businesses.

Padgett Business Services of North Carolina is our go-to provider for everything financial. We recommend Padgett Business Services for small businesses who feel lost in the void when it comes to finances or business owners who would rather hide under their desk than deal with taxes.
Agoura Hills, CA, USA
Our web server is a powerful VPS managed by GreenGeeks.com, an EPA Green Power Partner. Their company is committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible, so they use energy-efficient hardware housed in eco-friendly data centers. But the best part is that they work with environmental foundations to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) to put back into the grid three times (3x!!!) the amount of energy they consume. GreenGeeks.com is consistently rated at the top of the charts for best web servers. And here’s why. In addition to being a “carbon-reducing” website host, their platform is also top of the line and continually improving with reliable hardware, fast load times, and enhanced security.
PS – Did you know we offer free eco-friendly hosting on our VPS to all of our retainer clients?
Point Richmond, CA, USA
As much as possible, we try to go paper-free. But we’re not quite there yet with digital business cards (and honestly, experiencing a beautifully printed design can’t be beat). So we did a lot of searching to find an ethically-run printing business that is as sustainable as possible. GreenerPrinter exceeds our expectations time and again. They only print on the highest quality recycled and/or FSC-certified paper with non-toxic soy- and vegetable-based inks. And everything from their production to shipping processes is designed for the highest standards for sustainability. We use GreenerPrinter for all of our professional printing needs.
